Camp facilities
We want the camp to feel like home – cozy and welcoming. That’s why we have great, comfortable, and practical facilities, and we’re always working on creating even more.
Servic buildings
There are two service buildings at the camp. In our small service building near the cabin village, you'll find restrooms and family shower rooms.
In our larger service building, you'll find, in addition to restrooms and shower facilities, a baby room with changing tables and bathing facilities. This building also has a laundry room with a washing machine and tumble dryer, as well as a communal kitchen with stovetops, ovens, and a small freezer for cooling elements.
Café and information
It’s not a café in the traditional sense, but we love the idea of welcoming you into a café-style environment with the aroma of freshly ground coffee beans and soft music playing in the background. This is where you check in upon arrival and check out at the end of your stay.
It’s also the place where you can relax with a book, get some work done on your computer, or challenge each other to a game of Ludo. You can purchase a cup of coffee, and there will also be a selection of (local) specialties, snacks, and ice cream for sale.
The Social Area
The heart of the camp, The Social Area, is located between the café, outdoor kitchen, and playground. The idea behind this outdoor space is to provide a place where you can gather for a shared dinner, enjoy a cup of coffee, and chat while the children play on the playground.
We also plan to host small events in The Social Area during peak season. These could include live music, cozy campfire evenings, or long table dinners.
The Social House
In The Social House, located right next to The Social Area, you'll find tables, chairs, and a couple of armchairs. Here, you can settle down to enjoy your meal – or perhaps relax with a board game or a movie on your tablet.
It is also possible to book The Social House for small events, such as a children's birthday party or a family lunch. Contact us for more information. When the social house is booked, we refer guests to the café for indoor seating or to the covered area by the outdoor kitchen. The Social House can generally be booked for groups of 15 people or more.
Outdoor kitchen and grill area
Next to The Social Area and outside The Social House, you'll find the covered outdoor kitchen with gas burners, sinks, and a dining area. There is also a shared grill and a campfire area nearby. Now, it’s just a matter of deciding how outdoorsy you want your meal preparation to be.
For children
There has to be space for kids and their sometimes impressive energy levels, and we have that in abundance at the camp's playground and jumping pillows. The playground features a sandbox, climbing castle, swing set, and slide. Next to it, we have two jumping pillows – one large and one smaller. The entire setup is located right next to The Social Area, so the adults can chat and admire sandcastles at the same time – smart, right?
If the little ones need a bit of a challenge and some fresh air at the same time, we have the booklets "Fun and Cool Nature" available at the café, part of the Danish Nature Conservation Society’s "99 Species" project. These include both information and tasks about nature. Additionally, we offer nature bingo sheets, which are a fun activity for the little ones to complete. Ready, set, go: Who will find a worm first?
Kayakomat
We have a Kayakomat at the camp, which means that everyone – guests, locals, and everyone in between – can rent a kayak, tandem kayak, or SUP board, walk the 100 meters down to the water's edge, and enjoy a trip on the Silkeborg Lakes. Read more about the Kayakomat and booking here.
Canoe
If you’re dreaming of a trip on the Silkeborg Lakes, you can rent one of the camp’s canoes. From there, it’s off to Paradisøerne, Avnsø (the Glasses), the harbor, through the sluice, or maybe even all the way to Himmelbjerget. It’s so beautiful here!
We only rent out our canoes with a start/stop from the camp on the same day. The cost is 150 DKK per hour – and 500 DKK for the whole day (three hours or more).
Read more about our canoe rental terms here.
Bicycle service
In time, we plan to set up a proper little service station with bike racks, but for now, we have a hose for cleaning. It’s also possible to borrow a pump and various tools, so your bike will be ready for another adventure in the forest.
Grocery bikes
Since we don’t sell groceries at the camp, we offer our guests the option to borrow a grocery bike. It only takes a few minutes to zip over to Rema 1000 on Lyngbygade for milk or to Brandt Brød on Søtorvet for sourdough pastries. Come by the café to borrow the keys.
Accommodation options at the camp
We offer a variety of accommodation options in the heart of the stunning nature at our outdoor camp. Are you most interested in staying in a tent, van, caravan, or cabin?
